The Sigmund Freud museum is a historical record of the world's most famous psychoanalysis. In fact, the building in which the museum is set was actually Sigmund Freud's house. He lived here for almost half a century from 1891 to 1938, until he was forced to leave for Great Britain after Hitler annexed Austria.
Inside the museum visitors can learn more about the man, including viewing original film and sound recording of him and his family. Many rooms of the house have been restored to exactly as they were when Freud lived here and much of the furniture in the museum is also original.
In Anna Freud's (Sigmund's daughter) room, there is a display of contemporary art from the Sigmund Freud Contemporary Art Collection.
The Sigmund Freud Museum is located in a residential area of Vienna where many local people still live today. Nonetheless, it is easy and quick to reach from the center of Vienna with public transport.
