Newly opened in June 2007, the Salzburg Museum documents the history of the city including its cultural development as well as famous people who have had an influence on it since the city’s inception almost 2000 years ago.

The first floor of the exhibit tells the story of famous Salzburg artists, scientists, musicians, photographers and architects that have shaped Salzburg into the city it is today.

The second floor, titled "The Salzburg Myth", details the history of Salzburg. It does this with many priceless artworks and paintings that show the way the city developed through the ages.

In the Panorama passage, you can see ancient Roman murals and a potter’s kiln that were uncovered during excavations in the city.

The Salzburg Panorama is also here. This is a 26 meter long, 5 meter high Panorama which surrounds you and shows Salzburg from the Fortress in the 1800s.
