The Natural History Museum, or Haus der Natur, is located next to the Salzbach, just west of the city center.

Unlike most other Natural History museums, this one holds a number of live animals as well. The highlight of the museum is the 10,000 liter aquarium holding sharks and fish from around the world.

There is also a reptile zoo here, where amphibians, snakes, turtles and lizards can be found.

Non-living exhibits include an original size diorama of the first moon landing, habitats of the ice age and sections dedicated to the natural history of different parts of the world such as Australia, America and Africa.

No Natural History museum would be complete without Dinosaurs, and you can find exhibits about these here as well.

The Haus der Natur is located near the lift to the top of Mönchsberg, so if you visit the museum, make sure to take a trip to the top to get a great view over Salzburg.
