View from Moenchsberg

The Mönchsberg is one of the two mountains in the city of Salzburg with its highest point reaching 540m above sea level.

The mountain is a well known spot to get a view over the city. The walk up to the top takes approximately 10 minutes, but it is also possible to take a lift which travels inside the mountain to the top. This trip is free for holders of the Salzburg card, and costs just a few euros for those without it.

At the top you can find the Museum of Modern Art, one of the best museums in Salzburg. This however costs extra to visit, unless you have the Salzburg card which gives you free entrance.

You can also take a walk through the forest here on well marked walking paths.
