Georg Trakl was a famous German poet, born in Salzburg in 1887. He died at the start of World War I at the age of 27, but left his mark through his writings and poems.

Many of his works describe Salzburg and many facets of life here. Today, the Georg Trakl Memorial and Research center stands as a dedication to the man at the site of his birth.

Inside the center, you can find personal documents and hand written works from Trakl, as well as furniture from the family home and a movie outlining his achievements.

The center can only be visited on the guided tour, which runs twice per day in the week. The tour is free for holders of the Salzburg Card.
