The Salzburg Folklore Museum is housed in the Monatsschlössl in Hellbrunn Park. To reach the Monatschlössel, visitors walk through a forest path in the park grounds, where the once hunting lodge appears.

The museum is quite small in size, however it is certainly fascinating to those interested in folk culture.

The collection, founded in the early 20th century, documents the way people used to live on the land through artworks and exhibits containing antique furniture, musical instruments and utensils of the time.

The museum also has an impressive collection of "Trachten" or traditional dress that was once worn in the Salzburg region.

During summer, a special exhibition is held here, with a different theme each year.

The museum can be a quick side trip when visiting the spectacular Hellbrunn Palace. Entrance is not expensive, and is free for holders of the Salzburg Card.
