Laterna Magika debuted over 50 years ago in Brussels, and has been playing since in its home town of Prague. The show mixes ballet and mime with a number of audio and visual effects that are entertaining even for those that are not normally fans of the classical arts.
The group performs a show almost every day and the show changes basically every week. Currently, there are seven different shows in the performer's repertoire - the Wonderful Circus, Legend of Argonauts, Graffiti, Rendez-vous, Casanova, Code 58.09 and Cocktail 008. Although the show is based in Prague, it regularly travels around Europe and the world, making the performances here truly world class.
The theatre itself is worth a visit on its own. It is the largest of its kind in the city, and is a unique example of communist era architecture.
Tickets cost around 700czk for 1st class tickets, and can be bought online at the show's website (laterna.cz) or at the Box Office at Narodni 4, right outside the theatre.
It is located near the Bridge of Legion (Most Legií), and the closest subway station is Narodni Trida on the B Line.
