Easily recognizable due to the almost 40 meter high Löwenbräu Tower, the Löwenbräu Festzelt (pronounced Looven-broy) is popular with tourists and locals alike.
Löwenbräu translated is "Lions Brew" which explains the almost 5 meter tall lion above the tent's entrance which occasionally roars and drinks out of its Maßkrug. Like its name suggests, the beer served here is Löwenbräu.
The tent is also home to the second most popular soccer team in Munich – TSV 1860 and is a popular meeting point for both fans and the team themselves.
Inside, under the glare of thousands of light bulbs, the rounded roof in many ways make you feel like you're inside a beer keg yourself. The music podium is located directly in the center of the tent, and plays traditional brass music as well as some classic Oktoberfest favorites like "Hey Jude" or "Country Road". It is one of the largest tents at the festival, with over 8500 seats in total.
The Löwenbräu Festzelt is located at the south end of the grounds, on the corner of Wirtsbudenstrasse and Matthias-Pschor-Straße. Its large open beer garden along these two streets ensures a constant flow of visitors even in the quiet periods.
