Munich Zoo Deers

The Munich Tierpark (Zoo) is one of the largest in the world, and located just outside the city center in the suburb of Thalkirchen. It was founded in 1911 as the worlds first "Geo-Zoo", which was the concept of housing animals according to their geographic distributions. The zoo is actually more like a nature reserve where visitors can see the animals in surroundings similar to that of the animals homeland.

The zoo is spread out over 36 hectares housing animals from all over the world. The park is split up into 15 geographical regions, which are as follows:

  • 1. Petting Area
  • 2. Europe
  • 3. America
  • 4. Jungle House and Aquarium
  • 5. Orangutan-Paradise / TNA
  • 6. Australia
  • 7. Elephant House
  • 8. Tortoise House
  • 9. Jungle Tent
  • 10. Africa
  • 11. Polarium
  • 12. Children's Zoo
  • 13. Asia
  • 14. Villa Dracula
  • 15. Walk-Through Aviary

The zoo is open all year round and can be reached quickly and easily with the U-Bahn (station Thalkirchen) from anywhere in Munich.

Munich Zoo Reviews

Saket Upadhyaya, India

I am a big fan of wild life. Zoo is something I never miss to go when I visit a new place/county. I knew that Munich Zoo is a wonderful place and the moment I came to know that I am going to Munich I intended to visit MUNICH ZOO. and what a wonderful place it is. I must say it is a total family place and learning place for children. The division of animals according to their habitat was something unique. It gives spectator an animal behaving close to normally in a captivity. The Arctic zone was awesome with sea lions, polor bears, seals and penguins. I tell you, this post is small to describe all what is there. Not to forget the interactive sessions the zoo keepers hold with the spectators. The flight of eagles, hawks, taming of elephants, it is such a learning and oppurtunity for us to interact with the animals, quite unique. I clicked almost 200 pics at the zoo. I have been to many wild life parks. I must say this my visit to Munich Zoo was no less then an adventure trip.
