The Palace Bar is a family-run pub with a history dating back to the 19th century and formerly the haunt of journalists, writers and poets.

Now the pub provides a friendly and relaxed hideout for a mix of people, close to the center of the city, with nice and chatty staff and a conversational atmosphere. There's live music on Wednesdays, with bands mostly playing traditional folk music and there's also the occasional poetry reading happening in the back room.

The Palace Bar is spread out over two floors and rather busy most of the time, frequented mainly by Dubliners and, as it is just a short walk from Tara Street station, the pub is close to other, more touristy places like the Temple Bar.
