Brown Thomas was established in 1849 as a small general homewares store selling drapery and haberdashery. It has grown to become one of the most stylish, luxurious department stores in Ireland.
It is well renowned for its quality of merchandise, selling many top brands in fashion, beauty and homewares. There are over 12,000 square meters of floor space, spread over four floors. All the well-known designer brands in fashion, cosmetics and homewares can be found here. It offers beauty services including manicures, facials and brow shaping and there is also a perfumery selling well known international fragrances.
The store located on Grafton Street is open daily. The atmosphere, although opulent, is in no way intimidating and staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Although many of the products have a high price tag to go with their designer names, there are still plenty of items within the average shopper's budget like the BT2 outlet, which targets a younger audience, where clothes are more reasonably priced.
Window shopping can be a great way to spend the day. Many people think of Brown Thomas in a similar vein as that of Harrods of London.
Restaurants and cafes are located on the top floor.
