Nightlife in Amsterdam can vary considerably depending on what kind of entertainment you are looking for. Amsterdam has always been one of the major party cities in Europe with clubs opening seven days a week. However, nowadays the main party nights are mainly limited to Thursdays to Saturdays.
Amsterdam is, of course, most famous for its Red Light District which you can find behind the Dam square in the center. Here you will mainly find tourists peeping at the (half) naked girls in the windows as well as stag and hen nights having a good time.
Most of the night life can be found between Rembrantsplein and Leidseplein with plenty of bars, club, cafes and restaurants to choose from.
Amsterdam can offer something to suit everyone's taste – if you fancy a quiet night you can just take a stroll along the canals or have a glass of wine in one of the numerous bars. Alternatively, most of the clubs are open all night so you can dance the night away!
