Naschmarkt is the largest and best known market in Vienna. It was for many years solely a fruit and vegetable market, however has in recent history grown into much more than that.
The original Naschmarkt dates back to the 1600s. Vistors can find exotic herbs, cheese, bakery items, meats and even seafood here in addition to the fruit and vegetables that have always been offered here. There are also a number of restaurants near the Naschmarkt serving an international mix of food.
Be sure to try a traditional Viennese snack such as Kaiserschmarrn (pancake like dish with powdered sugar) or Palatschinken (similar to crepes) while you are here.
Every Saturday a flea market takes place adjacent to the Naschmarkt, where all types of bargains can be found.
Naschmarkt is has a central location, located slightly south west of Karlsplatz between Linke Wienzeile and Recht Wienzeile.
