The Salzburg Zoo is home to over 800 different animals and is open year around. Located just outside the city center, it can be easily reached on the Salzburg city bus and is free to those who have purchased the Salzburg Card.
The Zoo was founded initially by the Prince Archbishops of Salzburg over 300 years ago, making this one of the oldest Zoos in the world.
In addition to the Zoo’s normal opening hours, the zoo is also open until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays during August.
The Salzburg Zoo is built against a natural hill that leads towards the Hellbrunn Palace, which is not far away so even though the Zoo is somewhat out of town, it can be combined with the palace to make the trip worthwhile.
Salzburg Zoo Reviews
This is by far one of the best zoos ever. It has a vast variety of animals and birds, some of which are rare and unique...... A must see.......
