One of the more traditional tents at the Oktoberfest, the Augustiner serves up its beer from wooden kegs rather than the 5000 liter tankers that most of the other tents now use.
This tent is run by the same people who own the Augustiner beer garden on Landsbergerstrasse and the Augustiner on Neuhauserstrasse – both famous Munich institutions.
The Augustiner is known for its family friendliness as well as its "Gemütlichkeit" or coziness. Family day occurs between midday and 6pm on both Tuesdays of the Oktoberfest, and the Augustiner Festhalle celebrates this by offering up good value meals during this time.
The tent is one of the largest at the Oktoberfest with 6500 seats inside and 2500 seats in the beer garden outside.
The Augustiner Festhalle is located right across from the Hacker which tends to close easily due to overcrowding. If you get caught out, there is no better option that dropping in here for a more relaxed and easy option.
Augustiner is one of the favorite beers in Munich, and you shouldn't leave the city without at least trying a sample.
