The Gaiety Theatre is Dublin's oldest theatrical theatre, established in 1871. It hosts a wide variety of entertainment including opera, ballet, musicals, dance and drama.
Its Venetian façade is modeled on the great European theatres and the interior is opulently decorated in the baroque and Victorian styles. A complete refurbishment took place in 2007, which restored and maintained its original charming character.
It continues to showcase many box office shows and entertainers with an ever changing program. If you are in Dublin at Christmas time you may wish to see the annual Christmas Pantomime, which has been a fixture since the 1850s.
For over a decade, the Gaiety Theatre Late Night Club has also been operating with emphasis on live music. It runs every Friday and Saturday night, spread over several floors.
The costs of tickets vary depending on the artist or show and seat allocation. Tickets may be purchased on-line or at the Gaiety Theatre Box Office.
The Gaiety Theatre is centrally located on the opposite corner to St Stephen's Green. It is well serviced by public transport with the LUAS Green bus line stopping on the west side of St Stephen's Green and trams run every 5 to 7 minutes. There are also several city car park facilities close by.
This is a great theatre with lots of old world charm and atmosphere.
