The Brazen Head is renowned as Ireland's oldest pub, reputedly a drinking hole has stood on this site in some form or another since the 12th century.
With this kind of back-story it is unsurprising that the Brazen Head is a magnet for tourists, but the pub manages to retain its authenticity and straddle the line between being a tourist attraction and a place for genuine Dubliners well.
Live traditional music plays, the food is good and of course the Guinness is excellent. The pub also plays host to Irish storytelling and folklore from May to November. On each evening except Monday during this period, there is a meal and audience with Irish storyteller Johnny Daly in the upstairs bar.
Places are limited and it is certainly something that would need booking in advance during the busy periods, but an enchanting and uniquely Irish experience is promised.
