The Oktoberfest is like a right of passage for any beer drinker the world over. Held during the last two weeks of September and the first week of October, the Oktoberfest draws millions of people each year to taste its sweet Bavarian beer.

Unlike its name suggests, the Oktoberfest actually starts in September and ends in the first week of October. The reason for doing this is because the weather is normally better in September, although this doesn't mean that it will always be warm and sunny as Oktoberfest weather is usually unpredictable!

Oktoberfest hotels can be hard to come by, and is normally much more expensive than at other times. If you need a hotel during the Oktoberfest, it is best to book early.

What can often help is looking for an Oktoberfest hotel outside of the city center. Munich has an excellent public transport network which can get you from the outside of the city to the Oktoberfest very quickly.
